Why We Started The Minimal Studio

There’s something slightly strange about how modern events work.

So many beautiful things are bought for a single day, used briefly, then packed away, forgotten about, or thrown out entirely. At the same time, finding elevated, thoughtfully designed pieces to hire can still feel surprisingly difficult.

The Minimal Studio came from sitting somewhere in the middle of that tension.

Originally, The Minimal Co. was born from a desire to live and consume more thoughtfully. Over time, that idea evolved into something broader: slowing down, choosing quality over quantity, and surrounding ourselves with things that are made to last. The Minimal Studio feels like a natural extension of that philosophy.

Not because we believe every gathering needs to be highly styled or aesthetically perfect, but because we do believe beautiful, well-made things can help shape atmosphere, connection and memory.

A candle lit at dinner. Linen on a long table. A camcorder passed between friends. A guestbook filled with slightly messy handwriting. The small details people often remember long after the event itself is over.

We started noticing that many of the pieces we loved most were only being used once or twice before disappearing into storage, despite still having so much life left in them. Hiring felt like a more intentional alternative to buying more, particularly for moments that are fleeting by nature.

At the same time, we kept coming back to the kinds of gatherings people actually remember. The ones that feel warm, welcoming and personal rather than overly polished. The ones where people settle in, stay too long, and leave feeling glad they came.

That might look like a wedding weekend. It might look like a dinner party at home. A birthday in the backyard. A long lunch with friends. A table set simply but intentionally.

The Studio is deeply shaped by our own experience planning a wedding, and many of the images throughout this space were captured during that weekend by Olivia Melhop Weddings.

For us, it’s never really been about perfection. It’s about creating spaces that feel relaxed, lived-in and inviting. The kinds of gatherings people stay too long at because they’re enjoying themselves.

At its core, The Minimal Studio exists to help extend the life of beautiful things and encourage a more thoughtful approach to gathering, celebrating and hosting. We’re drawn to objects with character, celebrations with personality, and the idea that meaningful events don’t need to feel overproduced to leave a lasting impression.

Because often, the moments people remember most aren’t necessarily the polished ones.

They’re the slightly blurry, imperfect, deeply human ones.
