Low Light Attachment Setup Guide
Welcome to your SmallRig P96 LED Light from The Minimal Studio.
This light has been included to help improve low-light footage and create softer, brighter video recordings throughout your event.
The setup is intentionally very simple and can be attached directly to the top of the camcorder using the included Mounting Screw or to the top of a tripod.
A charging cable is included with your hire.
Turning the light on
Press the Power Button once to turn the light on.
Press it again to turn the light off.
Small indicator lights beside the Power Button will display the remaining battery level.
Adjusting brightness
Once switched on, rotate the Settings Dial to adjust brightness.
- Turn one direction for brighter light
- Turn the other direction for softer light
We generally recommend starting lower and increasing brightness gradually depending on the environment.
Softer lighting often creates a more flattering, nostalgic look on camcorder footage.
Attaching the light
To attach the light to the camcorder:
- On the camcorder, open the latch between the zoom and the lens.
- Slide the Mounting Screw through the metal clasps.
- Tighten the screw underneath until the light feels secure
- Adjust the angle of the light if needed
The light should sit firmly on top of the camera without wobbling.
Warm & cool light modes
The light includes both a warm and a cool light.
To switch between modes: Press the Settings Dial once, rotate the dial to move between warmer and cooler tones and then press the dial again to lock in your chosen mode.
Once selected, you can continue adjusting brightness normally.
Charging the light
The light charges via the Charging Port located on the side of the unit.
A charging cable is included with your hire.
We recommend charging the light overnight before longer events or multi-day use.
A few helpful tips
